Collaboration Between Odesa and Mainz: New Opportunities
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held an online meeting with the Mayor of Mainz, Nino Haaze.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the signing of a partnership agreement between the cities.
This decision has already been supported by the legislative bodies of both Odesa and Mainz.
Additionally, the participants talked about potential areas of cooperation, particularly in culture, social projects, bioenergy, and the IT sector.
The Mayor of Odesa highlighted the significant contribution of Germans to the rapid development of Odesa in the early 19th century and expressed hope that contemporary efforts could replicate this trend.
«Despite challenging times, we are moving forward through unity and collaborative development,» remarked the Mayor of Odesa.
Since 2022, Mainz has been welcoming Ukrainian refugees and creating conditions for their economic, social, and cultural engagement.
Hennadiy Trukhanov thanked the German people for their incredible support and assistance, and also informed his colleague about the recent hostile attacks on Odesa.
«The most terrifying aspect of this war is its focus on destroying civilians, culture, and the authenticity of Ukraine. We are currently assisting and aiming for long-term collaboration,» said the Mayor of Mainz.
Mr. Nino Haaze noted that Mainz is the most dynamic city in Germany, and he sees the same potential in Odesa. He also expressed confidence that the partnership agreement between our cities will foster the development of both countries.
