Training on Early Detection of Developmental Disorders in Children in Odessa
Representatives from healthcare and social service institutions in Odessa attended a seminar focused on the early detection of developmental issues in preschool children. This seminar was organized by the Odessa Regional Organization for Medical, Psychological, and Pedagogical Assistance "Healthy Society" as part of the project "Resilient Families, Resilient Future: Transforming Child Care Systems in Odessa and Mykolayiv Regions," supported by UNICEF.
The main aim of the seminar was to implement developmental screening methodologies and enhance the process of identifying family needs and referring them for early intervention services.
Early intervention provides comprehensive support to families raising children from birth to four years old who have developmental disorders or are at risk of such disorders. Integrating child development strategies into everyday life and enhancing family members' life skills help rectify identified issues and assist the child's social integration.
"Odessa is known as a leading city in implementing early intervention services. The combined efforts of specialists will improve health outcomes and enhance the quality of life for children in need of these services," said Tatiana Kutas, UNICEF's project coordinator for early intervention.
