Operation by SBU: Uncovering Illegal Arms Trade in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine, along with the National Police, successfully executed an operation that led to the discovery and arrest of individuals involved in the illegal arms trade across four regions of Ukraine.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

During the operation, 15 individuals were apprehended while attempting to establish an illegal arms sales network. Among the confiscated items were Russian Kalashnikov assault rifles with grenade launchers, as well as explosives and grenades.

In Odesa, one individual was caught red-handed attempting to sell homemade explosive devices and grenades. Almost 1 kg of TNT and other explosive materials were seized from the suspect.

In the Kyiv region, a local resident and his accomplices were arrested for trading in weaponry that had been smuggled from conflict zones.

Additionally, two criminal groups attempting to sell prohibited weapons were dismantled in the region.

In Chernihiv, three participants of a criminal group were arrested for seeking clients for the sale of automatic weapons. In Lutsk, a local resident was caught trying to sell military grenades.

According to reports, the arrested individuals have been charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to 7 years in prison.
