Disaster Response in Odesa: Aftermath and Rescue Efforts
For nearly a day, rescue teams have been tirelessly addressing the consequences of the severe weather in Odesa and the surrounding areas. The State Emergency Service reports that there are currently 9 fatalities, including 1 child.
Throughout the night, rescuers assisted in evacuating individuals from flooded areas, retrieving vehicles, pumping water from buildings, and searching for a missing girl, whose body was discovered at 7 AM. A psychologist from the emergency service was present on-site.
In total, 362 people have been rescued and 227 vehicles evacuated.
The operation involved 255 rescuers and 68 units of equipment.
Efforts are ongoing.
