Strengthening Ties: Odesa and Italy's Collaborative Efforts
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, met with Mr. Carlo Formosa, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Ukraine.
During their discussion, the Mayor expressed gratitude for the assistance in organizing Ukrainian veterans' participation in the Venetian regatta and shared insights about the development of rehabilitation services in Odesa, particularly in adaptive sports.
They discussed Italy's support for Ukraine and the restoration of the Odesa region, focusing on the implementation of a grant agreement signed at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome, under which Italy is providing Ukraine with €32.5 million for the restoration of six iconic landmarks in Odesa, including the Art Museum and the Philharmonic.
The Zontag House is set to become a UNESCO Heritage Management Centre aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of the city.
Italy's support for Odesa extends beyond financial aid; an expert working group has been established with specialists from Rome, and educational programs for restoration have been initiated.
Additionally, the Italian delegation arrived in Odesa to celebrate the winners of the First International Opera Singers Competition RECITAR CANTANDO, held with the support of the Italian Embassy in Ukraine. The gala concert will take place today at the Odesa National Opera stage.
