Changes in Coin Circulation: 10 Kopecks Remain Valid

The National Bank of Ukraine has decided to gradually withdraw 10 kopeck coins from cash circulation, yet these coins will still be recognized as a valid means of payment. This was stated in an official announcement by the NBU.

Retail networks, banks, and service sector enterprises will continue to accept 10 kopeck coins for transactions. Citizens are not required to exchange or surrender them.

Starting from October 1st, the NBU will cease minting these coins and will stop supplying them to bank cashiers to replenish circulation. Coins that enter banks will be collected and sent to the NBU for disposal.

The NBU explained that given the significant number of 10 kopeck coins in circulation and the decreasing demand, the decision to withdraw them will reduce the costs associated with their production and handling.

It is worth noting that coins of 1, 2, and 5 kopecks were removed from circulation on October 1, 2019, and 25 kopeck coins were withdrawn on October 1, 2020. After the discontinuation of 10 kopeck coins, the smallest remaining coin will be the 50 kopeck coin.
