Rescue Workers' Day: Honoring Bravery and Commitment

In Ukraine, Wednesday, September 17, marks Rescue Workers' Day.

This day is dedicated not only to firefighters and emergency service professionals but also to citizens who have contributed to mitigating the effects of emergencies, both man-made and natural.

Rescue Workers' Day was established on September 12, 2008, by a presidential decree.

As reported by Ukrinform, the head of the State Emergency Service, Andriy Danyk, congratulated his colleagues and veterans on this professional holiday.

According to Danyk, firefighters, sappers, medics, psychologists, engineers, and other specialists are an integral part of the large family of the SES, and it is thanks to them that thousands of lives are saved every day.

"Each of you demonstrates courage and professionalism in extremely dangerous conditions. Unfortunately, the Russians are cynically targeting SES units that rescue people after massive shelling," noted the head of the service.

"We suffer losses: destroyed equipment, injured and fallen comrades – this is our painful reality. The memory of those who gave their lives to save others will remain in our hearts forever," he added.

Danyk thanked the rescuers for their selflessness, bravery, and dedication, for believing that good and truth will ultimately prevail.
