Zelensky Advocates for Prisoner Exchange During Washington Briefing
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press briefing in Washington after talks at the White House stated that the exchange of military and civilian prisoners should be a fundamental part of the negotiation process.
Zelensky shared this during the briefing.
"Both the First Lady and the team from the United States understand that they will be engaged in such an important, painful, and complex issue as bringing Ukrainian children back". "We discussed this with the U.S. President, he agrees that it is a complicated system, but he will assist me regarding the exchange of everyone for everyone. This concerns not only military prisoners, primarily our servicemen, but also civilians - journalists and political prisoners. We agreed to work on this" - emphasized Zelensky.
It is worth noting that previously Trump stated that a potential prisoner exchange could occur after a trilateral meeting between the USA, Ukraine, and Russia. According to him, Russia will accept security guarantees for Ukraine, but partners need to discuss, "who and what will essentially be doing".
