Strengthening Cybersecurity Through Strategic Collaboration

The Military Technology Sports Federation of Ukraine and SET University have announced a memorandum to enhance cybersecurity initiatives. This collaboration aims to develop educational programs, organize Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, and prepare Ukrainians for international tournaments.

"Military technology sports are not just about the future; they are about the present. Ukraine was the first country to officially recognize CTF as a sport, and we are already establishing a national training system for cyber athletes. Together with state and technical partners, we are creating a new infrastructure for cyber resilience through sports and education", stated Arthur Buligin, President of the Federation.

In 2025, CTF was officially recognized as a sport in Ukraine, marking a world first. Following this, the first regional competitions took place on July 26-27, where finalists were determined.

The competitions were held at the national cyber polygon, Unit Range, with technical support from Cyber Unit Technologies. Participants tackled challenges across categories including Web, Crypto, Reverse, PWN, OSINT, and Forensics, featuring a special author challenge from Cyber Lab.

Within the regional cybersecurity championships, the best teams from various regions were identified. In the Vinnytsia region, the Samurai team took first place, Cyber Support placed second, and RCE Ninjas secured third. In the Rivne region, 0xRivne won first place, NUWM earned silver, and 404TEAM took bronze. Among teams from Mykolaiv, BARRACUDA emerged as the leader, followed by Ghost in the Shellcode in second place and 0xMK UA in third.

These teams will represent their regions at the final of the Ukrainian Cybersecurity Championship in September 2025.

Additionally, an open tournament, CYBER UNIT UNITED, was held on July 26-27 and was recognized as a stage for national selection. The results awarded first place to the dcua team, second to ByteMe, and third to dttua. Other teams qualifying for the final of the Ukrainian Championship include DNAcademy, Gongo, Exploit, Snufkink, XYZ.NXT, 0xSum, and LocalHost.

Regional competition winners will advance to the finals of the Ukrainian cybersecurity competitions. The winners will form the national team that will represent Ukraine at the European Cybersecurity Challenge 2025 in Poland. Furthermore, finalists will receive grants for a master’s degree in cybersecurity at SET University.
