Photo Contest 'Wiki Loves Earth' 2025
From July 1 to July 31, 2025, an international photo contest dedicated to natural landmarks will take place in Ukraine.
We invite all amateur and professional photographers to participate in this project and help create high-quality images of unique natural objects in our country for the global encyclopedia — Wikipedia.
The main goal of the contest is to showcase the beauty of Ukraine's natural reserves and fill the gaps in visual representation of our parks, reserves, and other natural landmarks.
About the Contest
- The 'Wiki Loves Earth' contest started in Ukraine in 2013 and quickly gained international status. This year marks its first occurrence, uniting enthusiasts from all over the world.
- There are about 9,000 natural objects listed for the contest in Ukraine. Throughout its duration, participants have uploaded around 115,000 photographs, yet about 40% of them still lack photos in Wikimedia Commons. This is a unique opportunity for locals to showcase the natural treasures of our region.
Important Participation Conditions for 2025
Given the security situation, the following restrictions on the date of photo creation have been established:
- Regular photos — taken before May 31, 2025 (inclusive).
- Drone images — taken before February 23, 2022 (inclusive).
- Nominations and Awards
The contest will traditionally be held in two main categories:
- Quantity: awards will be given to those who photograph the most unique natural landmarks.
- Quality: a professional jury will select the best photographs from each region, and later — the top 10 photographs of Ukraine.
Additionally, special nominations are provided:
- 'Video': for video materials about natural landmarks.
- 'Losses of Nature': a special nomination in partnership with the NGO 'Ecodia', dedicated to documenting damage caused to natural reserves due to aggression, natural disasters, or human impact.

Top photographers will receive valuable prizes from the organizers, and 15 best works will represent Ukraine at the international stage.
