Honoring the Heroes at Birzhova Square
A memorial event was held at Birzhova Square in Odessa to honor the fallen defenders of Ukraine who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Russian aggression.
Family members of the fallen, veterans, local residents, and numerous guests participated in the ceremony.
On the evening of August 23, hundreds of candles were lit, each representing a name, a fate, and a heroic act. The lights formed a map of Ukraine, serving as a reminder of the courage and resilience of our people.
“Each light in this evening event tells the story of a person who fought for Ukraine. It is our moral duty to remember those who will never return home and to ensure that their sacrifice is not in vain,” emphasized Pavel Vugelman, Deputy Mayor of Odessa.
We extend our gratitude to the NGO “Vyshyvankovy Festival” for organizing the event, to the Military Orchestra of the Military Academy, to the families of the fallen soldiers, our military personnel, and everyone who shared this moment of remembrance.
