Water Supply and Reconstruction Efforts in Odesa Region

In the Odesa region, efforts are being made to tackle water supply issues and finalize the reconstruction of a nine-story building in Serhiivka that was destroyed. A group water pipeline is planned to serve 16 communities, benefiting around 45,000 residents in need of water.

This was reported by the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine. The head of the agency, Serhii Sukhomlyn, held a meeting with local community leaders and district council members regarding the critical water supply situation. The issue specifically affects the Bolhrad and Suvoriv communities, where residents rely on water deliveries due to the lack of access to artesian wells. The head of the agency announced plans for a group water pipeline to address these concerns.

“Providing water to the communities in Odesa is critical and requires immediate solutions. Approximately 45,000 people currently need water. We hope to allocate funds for this project from savings made on the Mykolaiv pipeline project,” emphasized Serhii Sukhomlyn.

Completion of Reconstruction in Serhiivka

Serhii Sukhomlyn, along with First Deputy Head Mykola Boiko and Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, visited Serhiivka, where the reconstruction of the nine-story building destroyed by a Russian missile in the summer of 2022 is nearing completion. The restoration began in 2023, and all engineering networks have been installed, entrances have been completed, the facade has been painted, and the roof has been restored.

“I spoke with the residents. Each family has its own story. Some are still recovering from injuries, while others were fortunately not home at the time of the explosion. But what unites everyone is the desire to return home,” shared Mykola Boiko.

The reconstructed building features energy-efficient solutions, a secure bomb shelter, and inclusive design with elevators, ramps, and handrails. Apartments have been outfitted with walls and flooring, taking into account residents' needs.
