Utilizing Solar Energy: Tips for Ukrainians

With the arrival of spring, the efficiency of solar power plants in Ukraine has improved, and citizens are encouraged to use high-power devices during the day to optimize the energy system.

This was reported by the press service of "Ukrenergo".

"It is crucial to follow the guidelines on shifting energy consumption to daylight hours on sunny days. Please use high-power devices from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM — during the times when the energy system needs it the most," the statement reads.

Energy experts explain that during the day, the active operation of solar power plants creates an excess of power in the energy system, which can lead to the necessity of limiting their operation.

In the evening peak hours, however, solar energy is no longer available, and it needs to be replaced with other types of generation.

Moreover, overcoming the excess power during the day through export is difficult, as neighboring countries have installed solar capacities that are equal to or greater than those in Ukraine.

"Currently, the difference between cloudy and sunny days is equivalent to the capacity of several blocks of large thermal power plants," added "Ukrenergo".

On cloudy and cold days, energy professionals urged citizens to shift their electricity consumption to evening and night hours due to the limitations in generation during peak daytime periods.

Reminder:

On April 17, the electricity consumption level in the morning was 5% lower than on the previous day — April 16.
