Students Connect Online with Antarctic Biologists
Students from Lyceum No. 56 in Odesa participated in an online discussion with biologists from the Ukrainian Antarctic station «Academician Vernadsky». This event allowed students to immerse themselves in the world of science and learn about life on the icy continent. This was reported by Odesa Lyceum No. 56.
An extraordinary event took place at Lyceum No. 56 — schoolchildren joined a Zoom meeting with participants of the 30th Ukrainian Antarctic expedition. On the line with Odesa were biologist Elizaveta Safonova, a local native, and her colleague, biologist Taras Peretyatko.
The polar researchers shared insights about the unique flora and fauna of the Argentine Islands, detailed their scientific research in Antarctica, and emphasized the critical issue of climate change in this region.
Students were particularly interested in the discussions about the daily life of polar researchers.
They learned how scientists live at the station, the challenges they face every day, and the discoveries made during expeditions.
The meeting concluded with an active «question-answer» session. Students received heartfelt answers to their inquiries and felt pride for Ukrainian scientists representing the country in one of the most remote corners of the planet.
