New Initiative to Boost Interest in Science

A new program aimed at engaging young people in science will commence next academic year. The memorandum signed by Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and ONU Rector Vyacheslav Truba lays the groundwork for this initiative. The Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council is the driving force behind this significant project.

Under the memorandum, schools will have the opportunity to establish agreements with the university to bring in instructors for physics and other natural science subjects. This includes both preparatory training for grades 7-9 and specialized education for grades 10-11. Additionally, plans are in place to organize research activities with students who show potential in these fields.

The city council highlighted that the Institute of Physics possesses the necessary resources, including specialists and equipped laboratories, to provide quality education. Meanwhile, schools face a shortage of qualified teachers in natural sciences, particularly in physics, making this project essential to alleviate staffing issues in educational institutions.
