City Council Meeting: New Initiatives and Future Plans
On December 12, 2024, a new meeting of the City Tripartite Socio-Economic Council was held.
Participants included: Deputy Mayor of Odessa Pavel Vugelman, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions Vyacheslav Buratinsky, and head of the Odessa Employers' Organization Yevgen Drozd, along with leaders from relevant municipal departments and industry unions.
The agenda addressed important issues such as:
- the implementation of a project for electric stations based on cogeneration units to ensure the city's energy security;
- progress on the City Target Program providing non-repayable financial assistance to homeowners' associations in Odessa for energy modernization;
- career guidance initiatives in municipal educational institutions.
In today's context, economic resilience is vital.
Valeriy Ivanov, Director of the Municipal Heating Company, informed attendees about measures for energy security amidst wartime conditions. He noted that in 2023, a Memorandum was signed with the UN to create a distributed generation system based on 9 gas-piston cogeneration units, ensuring stable operation of heating plants during winter.
The first two units have been received, and installation work is ongoing at district heating plants connected to gas, electricity, and heat networks.
“This project will help Odessa become more resilient to energy challenges faced, particularly during previous blackouts,” emphasized the speaker.
Maria Lisnichenko, Deputy Head of the Tariff Policy Department, shared updates on the City Target Program “Energy House” aimed at providing financial support to homeowners' associations for energy efficiency measures. In 2024, 11 associations received a total of over 3.7 million UAH from the city budget.
A stable economy ensures quality employment, especially for young people. The Education Department presented information on career guidance activities for students.
The conclusion of the meeting focused on the Council's work plans for 2025.
