Health Initiatives in Odesa: A Preventive Approach
Last week, a significant health initiative took place in Odesa in honor of World Health Day.
The event was organized with the support of the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council and the Odesa Health Center.
On this day, anyone interested could undergo a comprehensive health check-up for free at the primary healthcare centers, diagnostic centers, and city hospitals. Family doctors and therapists provided consultations, measured blood pressure, blood glucose levels, pulse, conducted ECGs, and issued electronic referrals for laboratory tests and consultations with specialists when necessary.
As a result of the event, 2536 residents of Odesa underwent preventive examinations. Additionally, with the assistance of the Kyiv district administration, medical staff examined 55 individuals—visitors and employees of the administrative building.
During the check-ups, 331 cases of high blood pressure and 200 cases of elevated blood glucose levels were identified. Based on ECG results, 258 patients were referred to a cardiologist.
For patients requiring further examination, 1112 electronic referrals for laboratory tests and 640 for consultations with specialists were created by the doctors. All patients received consultations from healthcare professionals.
Health days help to timely identify health issues, increase public awareness about prevention and early diagnosis of diseases, and remind individuals of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
