Military Intelligence Day: Honoring the Bravery of Ukrainian Scouts

In Ukraine, September 7 is celebrated as Military Intelligence Day. This holiday highlights the significant role of military intelligence in safeguarding national interests. In times of open aggression, the country requires reliable and swift intelligence capable of providing objective and accurate information as well as forecasts for making crucial decisions in national security.

Military intelligence serves as the eyes, ears, and brain of the army, states the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov.

According to Budanov, this professional holiday is for "those who fight an often invisible but extremely vital battle for the freedom and security of our country and our citizens."

"Military intelligence, - emphasized Budanov, - is the eyes, ears, and brain of our army. It embodies bravery, determination, cool-headedness, and an open heart dedicated to Ukraine."

The daily work of Ukrainian intelligence officers combines sharp intellect, modern technology, strategic analytics, and unwavering courage.

Many comrades have paid the highest price over the years of this war, remaining faithful to their oath and homeland. Their names are forever engraved on the Memorial of Remembrance, highlighted the head of the GUR. He expressed gratitude to every intelligence officer, every family waiting for their heroes, and all Ukrainians supporting the military in the heroic fight for freedom and independence.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated military scouts on Military Intelligence Day. The greeting was published on Syryskyi's Facebook page.

"Dear defenders of Ukraine! On September 7, we traditionally celebrate Military Intelligence Day. I sincerely congratulate the military scouts on their professional holiday! Thousands of Ukrainian scouts work around the clock, daily at the front and in enemy territory, achieving vital results for Ukraine. Their work includes gathering crucial information about the enemy and its destruction," noted Syryskyi.

He stated, "The combat experience and bravery of Ukrainian scouts are highly valued by our Western partners, who recognize their training level, unconventional thinking, high professional skills, and operational efficiency in task execution."

"The time will come when we can speak about all the remarkable operations of Ukrainian military scouts that disrupted the plans of Russian aggressors," stressed Syryskyi.

"On this day, we bow our heads in sorrow for the military intelligence officers who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence and the freedom of the Ukrainian people. Eternal memory and eternal glory to the fallen knights," added the general.

At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the soldiers.

"Dear brothers and sisters in arms! Thank you for your great contribution to our common military cause," noted Syryskyi.

Reminder: Military Intelligence Day in Ukraine was established by presidential decree on September 7, 2022. It is celebrated annually on September 7.
