Corruption Scandal in Forestry Management Revealed

The leadership of the forestry management has been implicated in corruption related to the issuance of hunting permits. Three officials from the Southern Interregional Forestry and Hunting Management have been charged with illegal enrichment.

This information was provided by the Odessa regional prosecutor's office.

According to the investigation, two of the suspects, holding managerial positions, devised a scheme to systematically solicit bribes from individuals seeking to obtain hunting permits. They created a manipulation mechanism during the examination process for obtaining licenses. To implement this plan, they involved members of the examination commission responsible for conducting tests and ensuring favorable outcomes. The 'fee' for successfully passing the tests ranged from 2000 hryvnias per candidate. In total, the officials received over 100,000 hryvnias in illicit benefits. They were apprehended while receiving the next tranche.
