Financial Aid from EBRD for Ukraine's Gas Purchases

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) may offer Ukraine funding for gas purchases. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
During a meeting between officials from the Ministry and the EBRD, the possibility of attracting funds from the bank to cover gas procurement expenses was discussed.
"The parties outlined the potential for securing additional financing from the bank and other donors for gas purchases, ensuring a smooth heating season for 2025-2026. They also explored the prospect of mobilizing funds under EU guarantees," the statement reads.
The announcement reminded that from 2022 to 2025, the EBRD provided nearly 1 billion euros for emergency gas purchases to ensure stable heating seasons.
"In 2025, loan agreements were signed with Naftogaz for 770 million euros, of which 500 million euros were under European Commission guarantees, and 270 million euros under Government guarantees," the Ministry of Finance press service added.
