Future Energy Tariffs in Ukraine
The National Bank of Ukraine anticipates an increase in utility tariffs in the coming years, particularly starting in 2026.
This information is outlined in the inflation report for April.
This year, there are no plans to revise the tariffs for gas, heating, and hot water supply.
"However, the challenging state of the energy sector and the need for fiscal consolidation will likely lead to a gradual adjustment of these tariffs in the following years. Specifically, an adjustment to economically justified levels is expected to commence from 2026", the report states.
It is noted that postponing tariff increases may result in lower inflation, but it will negatively affect the financial condition of state energy companies.
"At the same time, the risks of instability in the energy market will grow, the investment potential will deteriorate, and the pricing pressure will simply be deferred to the future", the NBU added.
Conversely, a swift and substantial increase in energy prices to eliminate imbalances in the sector will intensify inflationary pressure and necessitate an increase in subsidies for the population, according to bankers.
Recall:
"Naftogaz of Ukraine" has extended the "Fixed Tariff" for gas supply to the population until April 2026.
Starting from May 31, a price of 4.32 UAH/kWh for electricity has been set for all residents of Ukraine, regardless of consumption volume.
