The Legacy of Yuri Lipa in Odesa
Today in the City Garden, we explored and redefined the Ukrainian identity of Odesa, particularly through the contributions of Yuri Lipa and other significant figures who shaped Ukrainian presence in our city.
Among them are Ivan Lipa, Andriy Nikovsky, Mykhailo Komarov, Margarita Komarova-Sydorenko, and Serhiy Shelukhin.
Thank you to everyone who participated! You made this day memorable.
This event brings back Ukrainian values to the public space of Odesa through art, words, and history. We honor the personalities that embody the idea: Odesa — a Ukrainian city that must resonate with dignity, memory, and cultural strength.
Later today at 20:00 — a special episode of the podcast “Kultimatic” dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Yuri Lipa.
Our guest is historian and publicist Ihor Stambol.
We discuss the impact of the Lipa family on the Ukrainian identity of Odesa, the role of “Prosvita”, and culture as a form of resistance.
