Traffic Incident in Lyman Community

The indictment has been submitted to the court. The driver faces potential imprisonment and loss of driving privileges.

The accident took place in a village within the Lyman community.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that a 47-year-old local woman, driving a «Chery», was inattentive, failed to choose a safe speed, and hit a 15-year-old girl who was crossing the road, even though she could have avoided it.

As a result of the accident, the child sustained injuries including pelvic fractures, which, according to the forensic expert, are classified as moderate severity injuries.

The driver was unharmed; she was tested for intoxication and was sober.

During the investigation, the vehicle was impounded, and a series of expert examinations were ordered.

According to Eduard Kolomiiets, the head of the police department, sufficient evidence was gathered, leading to charges against the driver for violating traffic safety rules that caused moderate bodily harm to the victim. The investigation has concluded, and the indictment under part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been sent to the court.

The offender faces up to three years of imprisonment with a ban on driving for up to three years.

We urge drivers to strictly follow traffic rules:

- in populated areas, vehicles must not exceed 50 km/h;

- actions or inactions of road users must not pose a danger or obstacle to traffic or endanger the lives or health of citizens;

- to ensure traffic safety, drivers must remain attentive, monitor road conditions, respond accordingly to changes, and avoid distractions while driving.
