Strengthening Ties: Odessa and Turkey Collaborate
On October 24, 2024, a significant meeting took place in Odessa between Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov and the newly appointed Turkish Consul, Mr. Muhittin Celik. The primary goal of this meeting was to discuss the future collaboration between Odessa and Turkey.
Mr. Muhittin Celik emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine:
«I follow your work on Telegram and can say that you are doing much more than just fulfilling the duties of a mayor. Turkey has supported Ukraine and its sovereignty since the annexation of Crimea in 2014. We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance and support at the local levels».
The mayor expressed gratitude to the Turkish people for their support and voiced hopes for further collaboration, especially in the investment sector.
«It is a pleasure to meet you. We are grateful that Turkey is one of our strategic partners, particularly for Odessa. During the war, we received significant assistance from your country, including buses, generators, medical supplies, food, and much more. Despite the war, we are developing the city's economy and are hopeful for Turkish investments», said Gennadiy Trukhanov.
Both parties expressed their readiness for continued close cooperation to support humanitarian and economic projects in Odessa.
