Enhancing Drainage Systems in Odesa

To enhance the drainage system and maintain crucial infrastructure in proper condition, specialists from the municipal enterprise «City Roads» in Odesa regularly conduct scheduled cleaning operations.

The buffer pond, Romanian canal, and Kuyalnik ditches serve the purpose of draining stormwater, rainwater, and melted snow from the city streets.

Municipal services utilize specialized equipment to clear channels and ponds of vegetation, debris, and silt. They pay close attention to cleaning the most affected spots where wastewater is discharged from private homes.

The Kuyalnik ditch is the main drainage channel, measuring 4650 m in length, running along Vapnyana and Khadyzhibey roads, continuing through filtration fields to the drainage pumping station. This ditch drains stormwater, rainwater, and melted snow from adjacent neighborhoods.

Additionally, regular cleaning of storm drains and sewer collectors throughout the city is performed. Heavy machinery like excavators, graders, Maz trucks, and hydraulic units are employed for flushing pipes.

In cases of heavy rainfall, such tasks are carried out on an emergency basis.
