Revitalization of Odesa Building: New Horizons for Residents

The Mayor of Odesa, Gennady Trukhanov, inspected the restoration of the building located at Prince Volodymyr the Great Street, 134 — the site of one of the most tragic events of 2024.
Last year, emergency stabilization work was carried out, preserving the structural integrity of the apartments in the right side of the entrance and renovating the common areas. The internal heating system has been completely modernized, allowing residents of the surviving apartments to return home. Residents of the destroyed apartments on the left side of the entrance received housing certificates and utilized them through the eRecovery program.

Based on engineering surveys, a reconstruction project was developed. Demolition of the protruding remnants of the left side of the entrance has taken place. The external wall will be repaired according to current building standards. In addition to installing monolithic buttresses, the foundation will be reinforced with a monolithic slab, ensuring the building's reliability even under challenging conditions, forming the basis for further work.

“In the left section, intact areas of the destroyed apartments will be combined and used as maneuverable housing stock. We plan to complete their renovation with the support of charitable foundations,” emphasized Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

According to the Mayor's advisor on NGO coordination, Veronika Etnarovich, external and internal doors have already been purchased. Charitable organizations have also provided builders with foam blocks for internal repair work.
