Enhancing Accessibility at "Otrada" beach

Odesa is making significant strides in creating an accessible environment and improving conditions for all citizens. The Odesa City Council has approved the renovation of "Otrada" beach.

On September 24, city council members voted to allocate 1 million UAH for the design and budget planning of the reconstruction of the municipal "Otrada" beach (the area between buoys No. 6-b and No. 6-v).

The primary goal of the project is to create a comfortable and accessible space for individuals with mobility challenges.

As part of the reconstruction, plans include: the construction of an inclusive ramp for easy access to the beach; installation of modular facilities such as administrative, sanitary units, and inclusive restrooms; setting up changing cabins, including inclusive ones; and laying wooden boardwalks 1.4 m wide to areas designated for sun loungers and other amenities.

A special focus will be on developing adaptive rowing. The beach area will feature storage places for sports equipment, opening up new opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

This project continues the efforts to enhance the barrier-free environment, particularly in areas of health and recreation. This year, an inclusive beach was opened at the 11th station of the Great Fountain after reconstruction.
