City Day Celebration in Odessa Amidst Challenges
On September 2, Odessa held a significant event — a ceremonial flag-raising of the city flag and the flags of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who bravely defend our homeland.
The mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, emphasized that this year’s City Day celebration is marked not by fireworks, but by deep faith and gratitude to the defenders. Odessa has become a symbol of resilience and support. We honor the memory of those we have lost and thank those fighting on the front lines and at home.
On the Birzha Square, flags from Mariupol, Bakhmut, Lysychansk, Henichesk, and other occupied cities were proudly displayed.
«Odessa is not just about architecture and the sea. It is about the people who maintain their humanity under the pressure of war, help their neighbors, defend the country, save children, repair schools, cook for the military, and simply do not give up. Odessa will live on and will be even stronger, more beautiful, and brighter,» said Gennady Trukhanov, addressing the residents.
