Mobile Shelter Planning in Odesa

On August 19, 2025, a meeting was held in Odesa to determine locations for mobile shelters in areas with high concentrations of people, as directed by Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

The meeting was led by acting Deputy Mayor Serhii Kotsiuba alongside advisor Oleksii Morozov, who focuses on barrier-free space.

Department heads participated in the meeting, including Olena Buinevych (Education), Olena Kytainska (Social Policy), and Oleksandr Zhyltsov (Domestic Policy).

“Our goal is to provide Odesa residents with a safe environment in places where they frequently gather. It is crucial to quickly identify locations and verify their compliance with established standards,” said Serhii Kotsiuba.

Key issues included ensuring that existing mobile shelters meet the necessary standards and identifying priority locations near areas with heavy foot traffic.

“Barrier-free access in safety matters is essential. Mobile shelters must be accessible to individuals with disabilities and all mobility-challenged groups,” emphasized Oleksii Morozov.

Following the meeting, the relevant departments will prepare proposals for locations and provide coordinated information regarding the technical condition and compliance of mobile shelters with requirements.
