New Cogeneration Installations for Odessa: Enhancing Energy Resilience

The city of Odessa has received 7 new cogeneration units with a total capacity of 2.2 MW as part of the project «Enhancing Urban Resilience in Municipal Infrastructure in Ukraine» (SUR).

This initiative is part of German transitional aid provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and executed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Currently, the first two units have been installed, which will ensure stable heating supply for approximately 23,000 consumers, including residential buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities.

«These units produce both heat and electricity, allowing boilers to operate even in the event of a complete power outage. We are preparing for winter now to ensure that our people have warmth under any circumstances. I sincerely thank our partners,» said the Mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov.

The installation of cogeneration units is ongoing.
