Summer Greening of Odessa: New Initiatives
The municipal enterprise «Miskzelentrest» has begun installing vertical gardening pots on outdoor lighting poles.
These hanging flower pots are traditionally found at the Theatre and Exchange squares, on Deribasovskaya and Balkivska streets, Tiraspolskaya street, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, and along Lustdorf Road.
This year, a total of 52 vertical pots are planned to be set up across various districts of the city. Special seedlings of flowers such as geraniums, pelargoniums, tradescantia, and asparagus have been cultivated in the enterprise's greenhouses.
Workers are also replacing spring flowers with summer varieties. All flower seedlings for both spring and summer flowerbeds, as well as for vertical gardening, are grown at the «Rose» greenhouse.
This summer, Odessa will be adorned with 350,000 summer flowers, including petunias, begonias, pelargoniums, portulacas, and cinerarias.
