Celebrating Jazz and Art: Elena Shevchenko's Jubilee Evening
On November 8, 2024, the International Cultural Center UNION hosted a vibrant jubilee evening dedicated to the renowned host of international jazz competitions and festivals, Elena Shevchenko, titled "Jazz and Its Magic".
In recognition of her significant contributions to the cultural landscape, Elena received an award from the Mayor of Odessa and a certificate of appreciation from the Department of Culture and International Cooperation of the Odessa City Council.
As a musicologist and instructor at the K. Dankevich College of Arts, Elena is celebrated for her expertise in the history of music and jazz. She is also the founder of the jazz club named after M. Holoschapov and has earned the title of "Lady Jazz" for her impactful work.
The evening featured performances by her students and colleagues, showcasing impressive jazz numbers. Young musicians from Art Schools No. 1, 3, and 4 entertained the audience with their talents.
As is tradition, the evening concluded with an exhilarating jam session that highlighted the festive atmosphere.
