Assessment of Odessa's Cultural Heritage Following Attack
UNESCO's mission has arrived in Odessa, led by Kyara Dezi Bardeski.
The team is evaluating damage to cultural heritage sites affected by the hostile attack on November 14.
According to Ivan Liptuga, the director of the Cultural Department of the Odessa City Council, 22 architectural monuments were damaged, 19 of which are directly within the UNESCO heritage site.
«Next week, a special commission will convene to draft damage reports, allowing UNESCO to provide emergency assistance», — stated Ivan Liptuga.
«UNESCO condemns yet another violation of international law regarding attacks on cultural heritage. We are collaborating with local authorities and experts to assess the situation and determine our next steps», — added Kyara Dezi Bardeski.
