Exploring Odesa's Cultural Heritage: A New Era of Collecting
On December 23, 2024, the conference «Odesa Collections» took place at the «#ARTODESSA» gallery of the Summer Theater in the City Garden.
The event gathered Odesa collectors, cultural experts, and local historians.
The main goal of the conference was to revive the tradition of collaboration among Odesa collectors to address the preservation of Ukraine's historical and cultural heritage.
During discussions, participants focused on the prospects of preserving private collections, opportunities for exhibition, museification, and cataloging. A crucial aspect was identifying the need for scientific research on these collections.
Speakers at the event included: Ivan Liptuga, Felix Kohrikht, Semen Kantor, Anna Golubovska, Taras Maksymiuk, Oleksandr Friedman, Serhiy Sedyh, Dmytro Khamula, Denys Mitskevych, Oleksandr Surilov, Yuliya Hurynenko, and Kateryna Pimenova.
As a result of the conference, a publication on collecting titled «Universe Named Odesa» is being prepared for release.
The conference was organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odesa City Council.
