Night Attack: Director of Odessa Zoo Safe, But His House Destroyed
Last night, a Russian drone struck the home of Igor Bilyakov, the director of the Odessa Zoo. Thankfully, he was not harmed, but the building was completely destroyed.
This information comes from the official page of the K.U. "Odessa Zoo".
Hit on Bilyakov's House
Due to the drone strike, Igor Bilyakov's home was obliterated, and his mobile phone was burned. Therefore, the zoo director is currently unavailable to take calls.
"Fortunately, the zoo director was not injured, but his phone was destroyed, so he is unable to respond to calls. We ask for your understanding in this situation," — the zoo staff stated.
Additionally, as a result of the attack, Igor Bilyakov's pets are in danger—some of them went missing during the explosion. Searches are ongoing, and the institution requests anyone with information about the missing animals to come forward.
Attack on May 16
Last night, the enemy targeted the Odessa and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi regions: private houses, outbuildings, and a garage with three cars were destroyed. Fires broke out at the sites, which were extinguished by firefighters along with local volunteers. Two men and a woman sustained shrapnel wounds, blast injuries, fractures, and thermal burns. The injured woman is currently in serious condition in the hospital.
We remind you that recently we reported on a serval at the Odessa Zoo that got into a lion enclosure next door, as well as the consequences of the nighttime attack.
