Diana Yastremska Advances at Roland Garros

Odessa native Diana Yastremska has made it through the second round of the «Roland Garros» - the French Open tennis championship, currently taking place in Paris.

Diana started her campaign at «Roland Garros» against Australian player Destanee Aiava, who received a wild card. The battle was fierce only in the first set, ultimately resulting in Diana's victory - 7:5, 6:1.

The best performance of the athlete at the French Open was reaching the third round last year.

In the 1/32 finals, the Odessa tennis player defeated the world’s 12th ranked player, Russian Diana Schneider, with a score of 7:5, 7:5. Yastremska managed to clinch victory in two sets. The match lasted for 1 hour and 51 minutes. This was the second encounter between the two tennis players, and Diana was able to avenge her previous loss, leveling the series.

In the next round, the Odessa player will face another Russian, Lyudmila Samsonova.
