Celebrating Builders in Odessa: A Special Salute
On the eve of Builders' Day, Gennadiy Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odessa, extended heartfelt greetings to all citizens engaged in the construction industry.
«On this significant day, we wish you success and express gratitude for your diligent work. Our city is enduring tough times, with destruction from Russian attacks surpassing new constructions. Since the onset of the war, Odessa has faced 138 attacks, 38 of which occurred this year alone. A total of 3320 objects have been damaged, with 131 completely destroyed. Residential buildings have suffered the most: 1109 apartment blocks and 689 private homes. However, thanks to your dedication, Odessa continues to thrive, evolve, and maintain its identity. Even amidst war, we have managed to commission thousands of square meters of new housing. Odessa has always been a city of craftsmen, and today we take special pride in you — those who bravely face challenges, work with integrity, and build a brighter future», the Mayor stated in his address.
During the celebration, Trukhanov awarded honorary distinctions to representatives of the construction sector.
The Mayor also acknowledged the specialists of the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture for their contributions in assessing damaged sites, including UNESCO heritage sites.
The rector, Anatoliy Kovrov, received an honorary distinction from the Mayor for his significant contributions to the rescue and restoration of buildings following Russian attacks.
Additionally, commendations were given to construction workers who tirelessly strive to restore and enhance Odessa.
