Criminal Arrested at Border: Latest Updates

Law enforcement officials have apprehended a man who was planning to illegally transport two individuals across the border into the unrecognized Transnistria. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been taken.

The actions of the 50-year-old resident of the Rozdilna district were uncovered by migration police and investigators from the Odessa regional police.

It was established that the man conspired with an unidentified accomplice to seek clients for illegal border crossing through a messaging app.

Police documented the suspect meeting two conscription-age men in Odessa and transporting them to the Podilskyi district, near the border.

Law enforcement interrupted the operation just 100 meters from the border due to a police intervention. The perpetrator was arrested.

During the search, the vehicle and the suspect's mobile phone were seized as evidence in the criminal case. An arrest has been placed on the property.

The suspect has been informed of his charges for illegally transporting individuals across the state border, punishable by up to seven years in prison. The court has chosen a preventive measure of custody.

Investigations continue under the supervision of the prosecutor's office. All circumstances of the crime and individuals involved are being established.

Law enforcement emphasizes that those aiding border crossings also bear responsibility. Their vehicles can be confiscated.
