Doctor Arrested for Bribery in Military Healthcare
In the Kyiv region, investigative authorities, with the support of the prosecution, have uncovered a neurologist from a private clinic suspected of receiving illicit benefits for influencing state decisions (Part 3, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the doctor promised a serviceman that for a fee she would «resolve the issue» of his discharge from service due to health problems. She claimed she could influence the members of the military medical commission, prepare the necessary medical history, and extend his inpatient treatment.
The doctor estimated her «services» at 4500 USD, demanding an advance payment of 3000 USD, with the remainder to be paid after the treatment was completed.
She was apprehended in her office during the receipt of the first part of the bribe.
The full circle of participants involved in this illegal scheme is being established.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SV OROP No. 1 of the Main Directorate of National Police in the Odessa region, with operational support from the Odessa Department of the National Police's DWB.
