Exploring the Career of a Criminalist for Youth
In the Berezivskyi, Odesa, and Podilskyi districts, events were held focusing on the profession of a criminalist. This was a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn about crime investigation methods, the importance of obeying the law, and consider their future career paths.
During meetings held at educational institutions and local police departments, youth discovered the skills required for criminalists, such as crime scene investigation, using technical devices to document and classify evidence. The quality of their work directly influences the success of solving crimes. Specialists shared personal experiences, citing examples of how even minor details helped identify criminals.
Young people learned about the police's protocol at crime scenes, evidence collection methods, and were introduced to the basics of fingerprinting. Many expressed interest in practicing how to find fingerprints of a hypothetical criminal at a simulated event.
The police also discussed modern technologies they use, including electrostatic mats for detecting shoe prints, rapid tests for checking substances for narcotics, drones for assessing damaged areas, mobile DNA laboratories, and more.
