Arrest in Odesa: Fraud Involving Documents for Illegal Emigration

A man was detained in Odesa, allegedly for $15,000, assisting conscripts in acquiring documents for illegal border crossing.

This information was disclosed on February 13 by the Odesa police.

According to the investigation, a 37-year-old man promised his acquaintance a six-month deferment from military service due to health reasons, allowing him to leave the country.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Southern Region noted that fictitious data was to be entered into the "Reserve+" and "Oberih" systems. The service cost was set at $15,000.

The Odesa resident was arrested while receiving the payment. Investigators seized the specified amount, a mobile phone, a car, and documents from him. He was charged under part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to nine years in prison, along with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years, including property confiscation.

The court decided to impose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail set at 908,400 hryvnias. Within the framework of the proceedings, police will identify individuals who utilized the services of the detainee.
