Military Instructor Detained in Odesa Region for Bribery
On February 21, news broke about the detention of a military instructor in the Odesa region.
According to police, the serviceman demanded 50,000 hryvnias from a man he was assisting with military documentation.
"In exchange for this amount, the perpetrator promised to influence military officials to issue documents for deferment from conscription, allowing the individual to avoid mobilization and move freely within Ukraine", the statement read.
Later, the amount was reduced to 20,000 hryvnias, and the suspect was apprehended after receiving the money. The funds were seized as evidence.
The prosecution added that the serviceman took the man's passport to ensure the payment:
"In January 2025, the suspect again offered his 'assistance', lowering the bribe to 20,000 hryvnias. The citizen, reluctantly agreeing, reported to law enforcement and acted under their guidance".
The arrest occurred on February 19. The man has been informed of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. Currently, the issue of a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.
