Collaboration with the UN for Odesa's Support
On October 15, 2024, an important working meeting took place in Odesa's city hall, featuring acting mayor Oleksandr Filatov and the mayor's advisor on social issues, Veronika Etnarovich. The humanitarian coordinator of the UN in Ukraine, Mr. Matthias Schmale, was the guest of honor.
Also present were: Abdul Hak Amiri, head of the Europe, Central Asia, and Caucasus department at the UN headquarters, Ms. Anne-Sophie Le Bœuf, acting head of the UN in Ukraine, Teikshur Mugari, head of the Southern Hub of the UN, Alina Basyuk, humanitarian advisor, and Olena Kytainska, director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the security and humanitarian needs of the city amid military aggression, support for internally displaced persons, and preparations for the winter period.
UN representatives emphasized that the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan would consider the need for assistance to internally displaced persons and the provision of additional modular shelters for Odesa.
Additionally, the possibility of ensuring reliable operation of heating and water supply facilities for the city's social institutions during the autumn-winter period was explored.
Oleksandr Filatov expressed gratitude to international partners on behalf of Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov for their cooperation and comprehensive assistance, particularly in the restoration of homes affected by hostile attacks.
