New Initiative for Internally Displaced Persons
A major new initiative titled "Shelter. Work" has been launched in Kyiv to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs) in finding employment and housing for successful integration into their new communities. The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine reported this news.
The "Shelter. Work" platform provides job listings that include housing options from employers, retraining programs, and an AI-driven job search tool, fostering collaboration between the government and businesses.
"When a person has a place to live and the opportunity to work, they aren't just surviving; they become an integral part of the local community, paying taxes, raising children, and developing their neighborhoods. "Shelter. Work" exemplifies a practical solution to combine these two elements," said Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutin.
People's Deputy and project initiator Galina Yanchenko shared that the "Shelter" program has been operational since the first day of the full-scale invasion, initially as a social media group through which over a million Ukrainians found housing.
"Initially, this project was simply a means for IDPs to locate free housing. However, it has evolved into an opportunity to help people restart their lives," she stated.
