Mass Fish Deaths in Ukrainian Lagoons: Investigating the Causes
Environmental concerns in Ukraine's lagoons.
Recently, a mass die-off of aquatic organisms has been reported in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
This information was provided by the State Ecological Inspection of the Southwestern Region.
The focus is on the Hadzhibey and Tiligul lagoons. Initial reports suggest that the causes may include elevated water temperatures, decreased dissolved oxygen levels, algae decay, and the release of hydrogen sulfide from the bottom of the water bodies.
Experts are collecting water samples for further laboratory analysis.
The inspection agency stated that the situation is under control, and further updates will be provided later.
