Promoting Inclusivity: New Initiatives in Odesa

Today, June 5, an online meeting was held in Odesa, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba and Deputy Minister for Community Development Natalia Kozlovska.

Representatives from the Odesa City Council participated, including First Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Filatov and advisor on accessibility issues Oleksii Morozov.

They discussed the implementation of the 'Barrier-Free Movement' project and the status of the inclusive tram route 'North-South'.

The participants focused on the technical aspects of the route, including the marking of specific sections and the action plan.

In Odesa, the marking of the inclusive tram route 'North-South' is already actively underway. Recently, project representatives from Kyiv visited the city to familiarize themselves with the route plan. Following the inspection, an action plan was approved.

The 'Barrier-Free Movement' project is part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine, which Odesa is actively involved in.

The initiative for the inclusive tram route 'North-South' was proposed by the Odesa City Council and approved by the Ministry of Community Development and Territories.

Coordination of the project at the local level is overseen by the Odesa Barrier-Free Council.
