A prestigious award ceremony for the «Person of the Year 2024» took place in Kyiv, honoring significant achievements of citizens. The event was hosted by the popular TV personalities Kateryna Osadcha and Yuriy Horbunov.

The «Mayor of the Year» nomination acknowledges leaders who have made substantial contributions to the development of their cities, improving infrastructure and quality of life.

The award was presented to Hennadiy Trukhanov by Mykhailo Pozhivanov, a four-term member of parliament and former mayor of Mariupol, who expressed his honor in recognizing the best mayor of Ukraine.

«Odessa is now a city that supports the military, housing approximately 100,000 internally displaced persons. It bravely faces every challenge», emphasized Pozhivanov.

Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed gratitude for the award, which symbolizes trust for him:

«I am thankful to every Odessa resident and every Ukrainian working for the benefit of their community. This recognition stands for our indomitable Odessa. Odessa-Mother, which today cares for everyone: the displaced, the military, and those in need of warmth and support. Our team works tirelessly: we assist the Armed Forces, establish rehabilitation facilities, prepare the city for the recreational season, and launch new initiatives like the Barrier-Free Council created with veterans», noted Hennadiy Trukhanov.

During his speech, the mayor of Odessa expressed his gratitude to the military and invited them to Odessa for recuperation. He also shared his most painful thoughts:

«It is incredibly hard to bury our brothers in arms. But let me be clear: the most horrific is burying children whom we pull from the rubble. This is unforgivable. Every murderer will face justice - both earthly and heavenly», said Trukhanov, stressing that victory will surely belong to Ukraine.

«Odessa is strong. Odessa is alive. And we will hold on - for those who are with us, and for those we have lost», concluded Hennadiy Trukhanov.
