New Frontiers of Accessibility in Odesa

In collaboration with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, the city of Odesa moves forward with its flagship project titled «Movement Without Barriers».

During today’s meeting of the Accessibility Council with the Mayor of Odesa, the initial phase of the accessibility route was approved, which is set to be implemented in 2025. This route will stretch from Kіshynіvska Street to the administrative center of the Peresyp district.

The project envisions comprehensive measures to create an inclusive pedestrian environment, including the renovation of sidewalks, improvement of public transport stops, and the establishment of accessible infrastructure for all community members.

«Over the past few years, extensive work has been underway: replacing rails, modernizing key transport junctions, and updating rolling stock. In addition to tram services, the organization of an inclusive pedestrian route is also planned. The city will cover a significant portion of the expenses,» said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

This is part of a larger initiative to establish the longest inclusive tram route in Ukraine, «North-South», for which 127 million UAH has already been earmarked.
