Completion of Bridge Repairs in Odesa Region
The bridge connecting the ports in Izmail and Kiliya in the Odesa region is nearing the end of its renovation.
This was reported by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
Experts have completed the installation of the top layer of asphalt concrete on the bridge structure and its approaches.
Currently, road signs are being installed, the shoulders are being reinforced, and the bridge is being painted. After this, grass will be sown on the slopes, and road markings will be applied.
The bridge over the Kofa Canal on the T-16-07 road Izmail – Kiliya – Vylkove is of significant logistical importance as it connects the Izmail and Kiliya river ports as well as four communities of the Izmail district.
“Thanks to the thoroughly repaired bridge, the movement of civilian vehicles, emergency service crews, school buses, and freight transport will be expedited,” the agency states.
The bridge over the Kofa Canal was built in the 1960s and is located on the T-16-07 state highway Izmail – Kiliya – Vylkove. In 2021, it was declared in an emergency state and closed after a pit formed in the middle, causing the entire structure to become misaligned.
