Innovative Approaches to Veteran Rehabilitation
An important meeting took place at the charity organization «Protez Foundation», focusing on pre-prosthetic preparation. The event included veterans with prosthetics, representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and medical services.
The meeting began with an overview of the operations at the «Protez Foundation» prosthetic center. Participants had the opportunity to witness the prosthetic manufacturing process and the latest rehabilitation technologies.
"Pre-prosthetic preparation is the most crucial stage in the rehabilitation of our defenders," noted the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inna Yashchuk.
The co-founder and president of «Protez Foundation», Yuriy Aroshidze, emphasized that the queue for prosthetics exceeds 2000 individuals. Therefore, a significant part of the meeting focused on discussing a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation for patients after limb amputations.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their motivation in the rehabilitation of our defenders and their quality prosthetics. We want our military to feel that everything here is for them, from pre-prosthetic preparation to recovery,” emphasized Yuriy Aroshidze.
Particular attention was paid to the role of social workers in the physical and psychological rehabilitation process, as well as facilitating the reintegration of veterans into civilian life.
Modern approaches to treating chronic pain in servicemen suffering from PTSD were also discussed. Experts shared experiences with new methods that significantly improve patients' quality of life.
«I am extremely happy that nearly 40 of our physical therapy specialists trained in the USA. They partially learned the secrets of American doctors' craft and gained valuable practical experience,» emphasized Inna Yashchuk.
Such meetings promote the development of an effective support system for veterans and ensure a comprehensive approach to their rehabilitation.
